Drexel Faculty Mentor: David Breen, PhD 

Joel Pepper is a second year PhD student in computer science. He completed his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University in 2019 in computer science and biomedical engineering. His undergraduate research was in laboratory-based cell and tissue engineering. His primary advisor is Prof. David Breen, and his research focuses on geometric modeling and simulation of "4D materials" such as cellular tissue and deformable 3D prints. He is currently a research assistant working on the metadata aspects of the NSF sponsored "Biology Guided Neural Networks" project under Prof. Jane Greenberg. He received an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship for his project proposal of a "Generalized Agent-Based Model of Responsive 4D Materials".
